Amsterdam was one of the three cities I visited during my European travels in 2010. I immediately fell in love with the character of this fascinating city; its exquisite canals, intriguing narrow homes, and bustling cyclists. I generally like to have an itinerary when visiting a new place, but Amsterdam was the first time I decided to try something different. Having no plan, it was a delightful surprise to stumble upon sights that probably would not visited. Of course there was no way I was going to miss the Van Gogh museum or the Anne Frank House; but, little did I know I would attend a Gay Pride Parade on the canals or visit a Dutch windmill. I don’t know if this is something I can do all the time, but I have to admit it was a lot of fun not having a schedule.
